What 'ties' actually means
'Ties' are reasons an officer can believe you will return home after your trip. They fall into four categories: economic, family, social, and property.
Documents that prove each tie
Economic ties
- Employer letter with role, salary, start date, approved leave dates
- Last 3 payslips
- Business registration if self-employed
- Tax returns for the last 1–2 years
Family ties
- Marriage certificate if spouse remains at home
- Birth certificates of dependent children
- Documents showing care obligations for elderly parents
Property and asset ties
- Title deeds or rental contract
- Vehicle registration
- Investment or pension statements
Social ties
- Active club, religious, or volunteer affiliation letters
- Evidence of long-term residency in your city
