What to do if your visa application is refused

8 min read · Doc'o Visa Guides

This guide is for general information only. Requirements change frequently. Always verify with the official embassy or government immigration website. Doc'o Visa does not provide legal advice.

Step 1 - Read the refusal letter carefully

Every refusal letter cites the specific paragraph of the immigration rules that was not met. Identify that paragraph - your next move depends entirely on it.

Step 2 - Appeal, administrative review, or reapply?

  • Appeal - available for some family and human-rights refusals; strict deadlines (often 28 days)
  • Administrative review - paperwork-only correction of an error in decision; cheaper than appeal
  • Reapply - usually faster for visitor refusals if you can address the cited issue

Step 3 - Fix the actual issue before reapplying

Do not reapply with the same file. Address each refusal reason with new documents and a cover letter that explicitly responds to it.
